Where it breaks
The mandatory onboarding fees are the part most small businesses miss: $1,500 on Professional and $3,500 on Enterprise, payable once, on top of the seat price. AI usage is metered in HubSpot Credits bundled per tier, so heavy Breeze use is a second meter running alongside the subscription. Marketing Hub in particular prices on contact volume rather than seats, which means the bill grows with your list whether or not you email it. And the step from Starter to Professional is a large one — roughly ten times the seat price — with no intermediate tier.
Browser-based with iOS and Android apps, plus Gmail and Outlook extensions that log email automatically. HubSpot is sold as separate hubs (Sales, Marketing, Service, Content, Operations) that can be bought individually or bundled — the prices above are the per-seat CRM figures and change depending on which hubs you take.
First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.
Small businesses mostly arrive at HubSpot for the free CRM and stay because moving a customer database is painful. That is worth knowing before you start, because the free tier is genuinely good and the paid tiers are genuinely expensive.
The AI story is Breeze: agents that enrich a contact record from public sources, draft the follow-up, write the blog post, and handle first-line customer questions. Because they sit on top of the CRM rather than beside it, they are working from your own pipeline — which company, which deal stage, what was said last time — and that context is what makes the output usable rather than generic.
Read the fee, not just the price
Professional is $90 per seat per month on annual billing and a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500. Enterprise is $150 and $3,500. These are not optional, and they do not appear in the headline figure.
What runs without you
The automations and agents fire on triggers — a form submission, a deal moving stage, an inbound email — without you present. That is the same category of thing Make does, with the difference that HubSpot already holds the data it is acting on.
If what you actually need is somewhere to keep records that other software reads and writes, Airtable does that for a fraction of the price. HubSpot earns its cost when sales process, not storage, is the bottleneck.
