Supadata
An API that turns videos from YouTube, TikTok and other platforms into transcripts, and turns web pages into clean text, for AI workflows to read.
What you'd use it for
Turning YouTube, TikTok and other social videos into text transcripts, and pulling clean text off web pages, so an AI step downstream has something to read.
- Fetch the transcript of a YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or X video from its link, with an AI-generated transcript as a fallback when the video has none
- Read any web page and return its main content as clean text, or crawl a whole site on the Pro plan and up
- Pull video, channel and playlist details from YouTube, including every video on a channel
- Plug into a Make or n8n scenario through ready-made modules, so a non-coder can wire it into a workflow
- Connect to an AI assistant through an MCP server, so the assistant can fetch a transcript itself
The verdict
Supadata does one narrow job well -- it turns a video link into text an AI can work with, cheaply and reliably. We use it ourselves to pull YouTube transcripts every day, and it has been dependable at that. It is a building block, not an app: on its own it gives you text, and the value comes from whatever you build around it. Worth it if you already run automations in Make or n8n, or have someone technical on hand; skip it if you do not.
What it costs
| Tier | Price | For | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | Testing it, or a handful of transcripts a month. | 100 credits a month (one transcript is one credit), 1 request per second, no credit card. |
| Basic | $5/month, billed annually ($60/year) | A small, steady workflow. | 300 credits a month, 10 requests per second. No advanced endpoints. |
| Pro | $17/month | A business running transcripts as part of regular content or research work. | 3,000 credits a month, batch transcripts, translation, whole-site crawling, optional auto top-up at $10 per 1,000 credits. |
| Mega | $47/month | Heavy volume. | 30,000 credits a month, 50 requests per second. Higher tiers (Giga, Supa, Enterprise) go further. |

What you need to start
- An email address to sign up, no credit card needed for the free 100 credits a month
- Someone comfortable with an API key and reading API docs, or a Make or n8n account to use the ready-made modules
- The Pro plan or higher for batch transcripts, translation and whole-site crawling
Under an hour to get a key and a first transcript; an afternoon to build it into a repeatable workflow.
Your first run With an API key, the first transcript comes back within minutes of signing up; wiring it into a working Make or n8n scenario is closer to an hour.
Where it breaks
Credits do not roll over month to month. Auto top-up charges your card when credits run low, so switch it off or cap it if you want a fixed bill. AI-generated transcripts (for videos with no captions) cost 2 credits per minute, not 1 per video.
Web API with JavaScript and Python SDKs, ready-made Make and n8n modules, and an MCP server for AI assistants. Works with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and uploaded video files, plus any public web page.
First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.
When not to use it
Not for an owner with no in-house technical person and no existing Make or n8n setup -- there is no screen where you paste a link and read a transcript, so you would be paying for something you cannot use. Not for one-off transcripts either; a free browser tool or YouTube's own transcript panel covers that.
Supadata sits in the plumbing of an AI workflow. Give it a video link and it hands back the transcript; give it a web page and it hands back the text without the menus and ads. That matters because most AI tools can’t watch a video, but they can read.
The typical use for a small business is research and content: summarise a competitor’s latest videos, turn your own YouTube back catalogue into blog drafts, or feed a week of industry videos into a briefing. We run it daily to pull YouTube transcripts for our own research, and that is the job it is built for.
The catch is the shape of it. There is no app to log into and read transcripts; it is an API. If you already build in Make or n8n, the ready-made modules make it a drag-and-drop step. If you don’t, you need someone who can.
On price, the free 100 credits cover testing, and Pro at $17 a month covers most real workflows. Watch the auto top-up setting, since it bills quietly once credits run low.

n8n
A workflow automation platform you can either pay n8n to host or run on your own server, priced by how many times your workflows execute rather than by how many people use them.
