Where it breaks

Only the Free edition has a public number. Everything past it is 'Get pricing' — the site is explicit that full pricing detail lives in the docs, not on the pricing page, and even there it did not surface a figure at the time of this check.

Browser-based, with self-hosted and flexible deployment options available for organisations that need them.

First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.

Tines grew up inside security operations centres, where a workflow that silently does the wrong thing is not an inconvenience, it is an incident. That origin shows in how the product is built: every automated action leaves an audit trail, and approvals can be inserted wherever a human needs to sign off before something irreversible happens.

That discipline is unusual in the automation category. Make and n8n are built for speed and breadth of connectors; Tines is built for the assumption that someone will eventually ask “why did this happen,” and the answer needs to already exist in a log.

Who actually needs this

If your automation is a marketing workflow or an internal reporting job, Tines is more rigour than you need, and the connector library is narrower than Make’s. If you are automating anything touching access control, incident response, compliance evidence, or anything else where an auditor might show up later, the audit-first design is the reason to pick this over a general-purpose tool.

The free tier is real, the rest is a conversation

The Free edition is generous for experimentation — unlimited spaces and connectors, three live workflows, a $50 AI allowance to try the AI features once. Past that, Tines does not publish a number; you talk to sales. For a business owner comparing platforms on cost before making a call, that is worth knowing going in: you can build and prove out a workflow for free, but you will not know what scaling it up costs until someone from Tines tells you.
