When not to use it
Not for anyone without an existing Divi licence, since there is no way to buy Divi AI on its own -- you are committing to the whole Divi ecosystem first. Also not for anyone who just wants a general writing or image tool, since ChatGPT or a dedicated image generator does that without requiring a WordPress site at all.
Divi is one of the two largest premium WordPress page builders, and Divi AI is what Elegant Themes bolted onto it once every website tool needed an AI story. The useful version of that story is real: you can ask it to write a section of copy, generate an image, or lay out a new page, without leaving the builder you are already using to assemble the site.
That “without leaving” part is the actual value. A generic writing tool like ChatGPT can write you the same paragraph, but you would then copy it into WordPress, format it, and find an image separately. Divi AI drafts directly into the page you are building.
Where this sits
It is connected to the site you are actively editing, acting when you ask it to, not running unattended. The AI Agent feature pushes toward more autonomous site-building, but it is metered separately from the base subscription and still initiated by you.
The dependency that matters
None of this works without Divi itself. If you are not already building on WordPress with Divi, there is no product here to buy — this is an add-on to a page builder, not a standalone website tool. If you are, the $16–21 a month is cheap compared to hiring out routine copy and layout work, and the unlimited-sites licensing means one subscription covers every client site you build.
