What you'd use it for

Turning a Figma design file straight into a working, editable app or prototype without re-describing it in a prompt.

  • Generate a functional prototype or web app from a text prompt, an attached Figma design, or both
  • Edit the generated code directly in a built-in code editor
  • Add a backend to store and manage data
  • Publish the result as a live website on a custom domain
  • Import styles and variables straight from your team's design library

The verdict

Figma Make earns its keep only when your team already designs in Figma - it turns a real file, not a prompt, into working code, which matters when spacing and component structure are already decided rather than described from scratch. Outside that context it is simply a prompt-to-app tool with a stricter seat requirement, since code export and publishing need a Full seat on a paid plan and the AI credits are drawn from the same pool as Figma's other AI features. A solo builder starting from nothing will find tools built for that exact job cost less and ask for less setup.

What you need to start

  • A Figma account (free to create)
  • A Full seat on a paid Figma plan to export code or publish; the free Starter plan can try Make but not export
  • AI credits from the shared Figma AI-credit pool, drawn down by Motion and Sites too

A working preview in a few minutes once you have a Full seat and an AI-credit balance; account creation itself takes moments.

Your first run Open Make from your Figma drafts, describe what you want or attach an existing design, and hit send - Figma Make returns a working, interactive preview in a few minutes, longer for anything complex.

Where it breaks

Browser-based, part of the same Figma workspace as design files — there is no separate Figma Make account. Prices in USD, confirmed on the pricing page. AI credits are shared across all of Figma's AI features (Make, Motion, Sites), not Make alone, and lower-cost "Dev seat" and "Collab seat" options exist below the Full seat prices shown here for people who don't need to generate.

When not to use it

Not for anyone starting from a blank prompt with no Figma design behind it - Framer or v0 skip the seat requirement and the shared credit pool entirely. Also not for a team stuck on Dev, Collab or View seats who need to export code or publish, since that still requires a Full seat no matter how the design got made.

Figma Make’s advantage over a standalone prompt-to-code tool is proximity: it starts from an actual Figma file, not a text description of one, so a design that already has real spacing, component structure and a type system feeds directly into the generated code rather than being described in prose and hopefully reconstructed. For a team that already designs in Figma, that’s the difference between translating a design and re-explaining it.

It is not a separate product with its own pricing, and that’s worth knowing before shopping it against dedicated tools. Figma Make is a feature of the regular Figma seat, billed through the same AI-credit pool as Figma’s other AI tools (Motion, Sites), so the “price” of using Make is really the price of the Figma tier you’re already on, plus whatever credits generation burns through.

Against v0, the split is where the source of truth lives — v0 treats a text prompt as the source, Figma Make treats the design file as the source, which matters if your team’s real design decisions get made in Figma rather than in a chat window. Against Framer, Figma Make generates app code you can take elsewhere; Framer’s AI tools stay inside Framer’s own hosted publishing model.

The seat structure has real range — a Dev seat or Collab seat costs meaningfully less than a Full seat for people who review and comment rather than generate, worth checking before pricing a whole team at the Full-seat rate.
