Where it breaks

Every tier's price scales with subscriber count rather than being a single flat number; the figures above are the lowest paid tier (1,000 subscribers) so far shown alongside the top of each plan's stated range. Check the live slider on the pricing page against your own list size before committing.

Browser-based, with a mobile app for capturing sign-ups on the go. Flodesk is famous for having sold unlimited-subscriber flat pricing in the past — that plan is now legacy-only and new sign-ups scale with list size as shown above.

First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.

Flodesk built its reputation on two things: email templates that don’t look like they came out of a template builder, and a pricing story — unlimited subscribers, one flat price — that made it the default recommendation for creative solo businesses for years. That flat-price plan is now legacy-only for existing customers; new sign-ups get pricing that scales with list size like everyone else’s, which is worth knowing if you were sold on the old pitch.

What hasn’t changed is the design focus. Where Mailchimp and Klaviyo optimise for marketers who live in the platform daily, Flodesk optimises for someone who opens it once a week and wants the email to look considered without fighting a drag-and-drop editor. The automation workflows (welcome sequences, abandoned-cart follow-ups on the top tier) run on their own once built, which is the difference between this and a one-off send tool.

The Everything tier is the one to notice if you sell anything directly — it bundles checkout pages and payment plans into the email platform itself, so a creator selling a course or a digital product doesn’t need a separate Stripe-and-landing-page stack for that one product line.

Against Kit, the comparison usually comes down to audience: Kit leans toward writers and newsletter-first businesses with strong tagging and segmentation, Flodesk leans toward visually-led brands that care more about the email looking like their Instagram feed than about deep automation logic.
