Where it breaks
Browser app plus mobile apps for iOS and Android. Prices shown are billed annually — the monthly-billing rate is higher, and extra social sets, users and AI credits are sold as add-ons above each tier's included amount.

Later’s original claim to fame was a visual content calendar — dragging images into a grid to see how a feed would look before it went live — and that visual-first layout is still the thing that separates it from a plain scheduling queue. It matters most for brands where the feed itself is the product: fashion, food, anything where the sequence of images carries as much weight as any one caption.
Once a post is scheduled, it publishes without you, which a caption-drafting assistant you have to remember to open never does. The AI layer sits on top of that: suggested captions, a “best time to post” recommendation per platform, and — on paid plans — an internal approval workflow so a post can be drafted by one person and greenlit by another before it goes out.
“Social sets” is the pricing unit worth understanding before comparing tiers: each set bundles one profile from every supported platform (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat), so a Starter plan’s single set is eight connected profiles, not one.
Against Buffer or Hootsuite, the real difference is emphasis — Later leans visual-grid-first for image-heavy brands, the others lean toward a straight publishing queue with broader platform and reporting depth. Both do the same job: scheduled work that runs while you’re not watching.
