The question Profound exists to answer didn’t have a category name a few years ago: when someone asks ChatGPT or Google’s AI Overview for a recommendation in your space, does your brand come up, and what does the AI say about it if it does? Search-engine ranking tools don’t answer that, because there’s no results page to check — the “result” is whatever the model generates in the moment, which can change between two nearly identical prompts.
Profound’s answer is to run its own prompts against the major AI answer engines on a schedule and log what comes back — brand mentions, sentiment, which competitors get named instead. You set up what to track once, and the tracking keeps running without you opening the tool each day.
Why the trial matters more here than usual
A 7-day trial only tells you something useful in this category if your brand actually gets asked about in that window — 50 daily prompts across three answer engines is a real sample, not a token gesture, and it’s worth using the full week rather than a quick look on day one.
The category is getting crowded
Profound raised over $50M in 2025 as a named leader here, but it’s not alone — Chatsonic’s parent company, Writesonic, has repositioned its own main product into the same space. If you’re evaluating Profound, it’s worth a side-by-side look at that repositioned Writesonic product before committing to either.
