Where it breaks

Chrome extension, plus a native Mac app. Because it reads the meeting platform's own captions rather than joining as a bot participant, nothing announces its presence to other attendees.

First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.

The distinguishing choice here is technical and it matters socially: Tactiq doesn’t send a visible bot into your Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams call the way most meeting-note tools do. It reads captions through the browser extension instead, so nothing shows up in the participant list announcing that the meeting is being recorded and analysed.

Free is a real trial, not a bait tier — ten transcripts a month with no credit card is enough to judge whether the summaries and action-item extraction are useful before paying anything. What separates the paid tiers is less about transcription itself (that’s unlimited from Pro up) and more about the AI layer on top: credits for generating summaries and asking follow-up questions, and, further up, how the transcripts get shared and retained across a team.

It states plainly that it uses OpenAI’s enterprise API rather than consumer ChatGPT, and that data submitted through that API isn’t used to train OpenAI’s models — a detail worth having if a compliance reviewer asks.

Against Spinach, which is built specifically around the standup-and-retro ritual and pushes into Jira, Tactiq is the more general-purpose transcript tool — better when the meetings you need captured vary in format.
