Where it breaks
Both published tiers are a base subscription plus per-transaction fees that Tipalti does not publish — the number you actually pay depends on payment volume and method, and only shows up once you request a quote.
Cloud platform with a supplier/payee self-service portal; connects to your existing ERP or accounting system rather than replacing it.
First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.
Tipalti solves a specific, unglamorous problem: you owe money to hundreds or thousands of people scattered across different countries, and every one of them needs a different tax form, a different currency, and a different payment rail. Doing that by hand is how AP teams lose entire weeks to reconciliation.
The AI in Tipalti is not a chat window. It sits in the matching engine — reading invoices, flagging mismatches against purchase orders, and routing exceptions to a human — and in the compliance layer, which checks a payee’s tax form and screens them against sanctions lists before money moves. None of it removes the approval step; it removes the manual keying that used to precede it.
Two products, one price shape
The $99 tier (Accounts Payable) is built for a business paying its own vendors. The $249 tier (Mass Payments) is built for a business that is the payment rail for someone else — a marketplace paying sellers, a platform paying creators. Both are base subscriptions with transaction fees stacked on top, which is standard for this category but means the sticker price is not the real price.
Where this fits
If you are paying a dozen vendors a month, this is overbuilt — Bill.com or your accounting software’s native bill pay covers it. Tipalti earns its keep once “who do we owe, in what currency, with what tax form on file” becomes a job function rather than an afternoon task.
