Vidyard
Records and sends short personalised sales videos, with an AI avatar option so a rep can produce a video for hundreds of prospects without filming each one.
What you'd use it for
Turning one recorded sales video into personalised variants for hundreds of prospects, and seeing exactly who watched them, without filming each one individually.
- Record camera-and-screen video from a Chrome or Edge browser extension and get a shareable link immediately, without an editing step
- Train a custom AI avatar from a 90-second video of yourself, included from the free plan onward
- Generate personalised AI avatar videos that swap in a prospect's name or company without re-filming the base video
- See who opened a video and how much of it they watched, and push that data into HubSpot, Salesforce or Gong
- Get unlimited automated avatar video creation and delivery through the separate Video Agent add-on, sold apart from the base plans
The verdict
Vidyard is built for sales teams already doing personalised video outreach who want the tracking underneath it, who opened a video, how much they watched, and that data landing in the CRM. Custom AI avatars are available from the free plan, so the real cost is not reaching the feature; it is the volume cap that pushes serious use onto a paid seat, and automated sending at scale onto the separate Video Agent add-on. It is not a video editor, and an avatar variant still reads as a scale play rather than a genuinely personal recording. Worth adopting once you are already committed to video outreach as a channel; not worth building a workflow around before you know it moves your reply rate.
What it costs
| Tier | Price | For | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, no credit card | A single rep testing whether video outreach moves their reply rate. | 15 AI videos, stock avatars, 3 custom AI avatars, limited automated video creation and delivery, a limited number of videos a month, video editing tools, video sharing, limited integrations. |

| Video Agent add-on (on Starter) | $24 USD per seat per month, billed annually, on top of a Starter seat | A rep who wants the avatar to send at volume rather than one at a time. | Unlimited AI videos, 3 custom AI avatars, unlimited automated video creation and delivery. What you need to start
- A Vidyard account, free tier available with no credit card
- Chrome or Edge, the only browsers with the recording extension
- Camera and microphone access granted to the extension for recording
- A 90-second video of yourself to train a custom AI avatar
A free account needs only a work email and no credit card, ready in a couple of minutes; installing the Chrome or Edge extension and granting camera and microphone access adds a few minutes more before the first recording.
Your first run A first video is a straight camera-or-screen recording made in the browser extension, titled, and shared as a link or email right after, with no editing step in between. AI avatar videos take one extra one-time step first, recording a 90-second training clip before the avatar can generate variants.
Where it breaks
Only one paid plan carries a public number. Starter is $59 per seat per month billed annually; Teams and Enterprise are both custom-priced through sales, so there is no way to compare Vidyard against a competitor at team scale without a call. The $24 figure that appears on the same page is the Video Agent add-on, not a plan -- it is easy to read as a cheaper tier and it is not one. Note also that the Starter price is displayed with a discount attached ("Now 10% off"), so treat $59 as a promotional rate rather than a settled list price.
Browser dashboard, Chrome extension for recording, and integrations with Gong, HubSpot and Salesforce.

When not to use it
Not for anyone who needs a video editor — Vidyard records and shares, it does not cut or polish footage. Not for a rep hoping an avatar clip will pass as a genuinely one-off recording to a top-tier buyer; it reads as what it is. Not for teams whose actual need is general screen recording or async updates rather than sales tracking — that is Loom's job, done more simply.
Vidyard’s core idea predates most of the current AI wave: a short, personal video — “hey [name], saw you looked at our pricing page” — gets a dramatically better response than a templated email, because it’s obviously made for one person. The AI avatar feature extends that at scale: a rep records a base video once, and Vidyard’s avatar generates variants that swap in a prospect’s name or company without re-filming.
That tradeoff is worth being honest about. An avatar video reads as slightly less personal than a genuinely one-off recording, even when the words are custom — it’s a scale play, not a replacement for a real personalised message to your highest-value accounts.
What the free tier is actually for
Free is enough to test whether personalised video moves your specific reply rates before paying anything, and it is more generous than the plan cards make it look: 15 AI videos, stock avatars, 3 custom AI avatars, and a limited amount of automated creation and delivery. The custom avatar — the feature people assume is the premium one — is in there.
What you are buying past Free is volume, not access. Starter lifts the recording and analytics caps; the Video Agent add-on, at $24 per seat per month on top of a Starter seat, is what makes the avatar send at scale rather than one video at a time.
The $24 on the pricing page is not a plan
This is the thing most likely to cost you an afternoon. The plans themselves read $0, $59, custom, custom. But under each paid column sits a tinted card carrying its own feature list and, under Starter, its own price: $24 per seat per month. It looks like a plan. It is the Video Agent add-on, billed on top of a seat, and it is offered on every tier — custom-priced on Teams and Enterprise.
So the realistic monthly cost for one rep who actually wants automated avatar outreach is $59 plus $24, not $24. Anyone budgeting from the page at a glance will be out by roughly a factor of three and a half.
Where it fits next to the alternatives
Against Loom, the difference is intent: Loom is a general screen-recording and async communication tool, while Vidyard is built specifically around sales outreach — tracking who watched, for how long, and feeding that back into your CRM.
