π Your meetings start writing themselves on Monday
Google flips a default on 21 September. One decision before then.
Two-minute read.
One thing to do this week: decide, before Monday, whether you want Google Meet taking notes in every meeting you host. Then seven short lines and a fruit fly playing Doom.
GOOGLE MEET π
Your meetings start writing themselves on Monday
What changes. On 21 September Google turns automatic note-taking on by default for Business Standard and Business Plus, in every meeting you host with three or more guests. (knowledge.workspace.google.com)
What it means at your size. A document you did not ask for now exists after the Monday stand-up, the client call, the conversation about somebodyβs pay. It saves to your Drive, attaches itself to the calendar event, and one setting decides whether the guests get it too. Most weeks that is a gift. The weeks it is not are the ones nobody sees coming.
The first step. Before Monday, open the Admin console and make this a decision rather than a discovery. If you keep it on, check who the notes get shared with.
The limitation. Business Standard and Plus only, and each person can still override it in their own Meet settings. This is a default moving, not a feature launching, so nobody is going to announce it to you. We have not lived through the switch, so this describes what Google documents.

Google Research and Janelia published the complete wiring diagram of a male fruit flyβs brain, all 166,000 neurons. Within a week people had it playing Doom, Minecraft and Beat Saber. The fly is not good at any of them. (janelia.org)
