What you'd use it for

Giving a small sales or support team a CRM-aware phone line where every call, recording and transcript logs itself against the contact automatically.

  • Route an inbound number to a team or agent by time of day without a receptionist
  • Get an automatic transcript of every call logged onto the caller's CRM record
  • Run a Power Dialer and outbound calling campaigns on the Professional plan
  • Add AI Assist Pro for call summaries, key topics and talk-to-listen ratios, a $49/seat/month add-on (billed annually) on every tier
  • Hand simple inbound calls to an AI Voice Agent that answers in 38 languages, as a separate product

The verdict

Aircall earns its place when the CRM sync is the point: calls, recordings and now transcripts land on the contact record without anyone typing them up, which is real time saved for a manager who used to spot-check calls by ear. The catch is that the advertised per-seat price only holds if you buy three seats and commit to annual billing; pay monthly or run a two-person team and the real cost climbs well past the number on the pricing page. The call summaries and conversation intelligence that make Professional look like the tier worth choosing are not actually bundled into any plan's price - Aircall's own feature comparison table lists them under AI Assist Pro, a $49-per-seat-per-month add-on (billed annually) required on Essentials, Professional and Enterprise alike. It suits a sales or support team of three or more that already knows it wants a CRM-native phone line, not someone comparing tools purely on the headline per-seat number.

What it costs

Tier Price For Includes
Essentials $30/license/month (3-license minimum) A small team that needs unlimited calling and basic AI transcripts. Unlimited US & Canada calls, SMS/MMS, shared inbox, call recordings with AI transcripts, IVR, 250+ integrations, 50 AI Voice Agent minutes/month.
Professional $50/license/month (3-license minimum) A sales or support team that wants AI call summaries and live coaching. Everything in Essentials plus smart call routing, queue callback, Power Dialer, outbound campaigns, call whispering, live monitoring and full API access. AI call summaries and conversation intelligence are not included - they need the separate AI Assist Pro add-on at $49/seat/month, billed annually, required on every tier.
Enterprise Custom pricing (25-license minimum) A larger call centre with compliance requirements. Unlimited global calls, custom onboarding, HIPAA/GDPR/SOC2 compliance, SSO and SCIM.

What you need to start

  • 3-license minimum on Essentials and Professional, 25 on Enterprise
  • Annual billing to get the advertised per-seat price, monthly billing costs 25% more
  • Up to three days to provision a phone number outside the US and Canada
  • A separate AI Assist Pro add-on ($49/seat/month, billed annually) for call summaries and conversation intelligence, needed on every tier including Enterprise

A US number can be live within a day, but Aircall's own admin guide treats a working, tested call flow as a one-to-two week milestone and budgets the full first month for CRM and SMS compliance work.

Your first run A US number can be live and taking calls within a day of signing up. Aircall's own admin onboarding guide treats a working call flow, tested by a few agents, as a one-to-two week milestone, with CRM integrations and SMS compliance filled in across the rest of the first month.

Where it breaks

Cloud-based; works from a desktop app, browser, or mobile, with phone numbers provisioned per license rather than per desk phone.

First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.

When not to use it

Not for a solo operator or a two-person team - the 3-license minimum means paying for seats you don't need. Also a poor fit for anyone expecting call summaries and coaching analytics to be included in the sticker price - those sit behind the separate AI Assist Pro add-on on every tier, Professional included.

Aircall replaces the office phone system with a cloud one that’s built to sit next to a CRM rather than beside it — every call, its recording, and its AI transcript get logged against the contact automatically, so a support or sales team isn’t manually writing up what happened on a call. Adding an AI-generated summary on top of that transcript means buying the AI Assist Pro add-on.

The AI layer does part of the work a call-centre manager used to have to listen in for: every call gets an automatic transcript on every tier, no add-on needed. Summarising the call and running conversation intelligence - flagging things like talk-to-listen ratio or specific keywords a coach cares about - sits behind the separate AI Assist Pro add-on, required whether you’re on Essentials, Professional or Enterprise. Once that add-on is in the budget, it’s a genuine time saver for a manager who previously had to spot-check calls by ear.

The AI Voice Agents line is a separate product

Worth flagging clearly: the $100/month AI Voice Agents tier isn’t the same thing as the AI Assist Pro add-on that covers call summaries and conversation intelligence — it’s a separate product that answers and handles calls autonomously in 38 languages, sitting above the human-agent phone system rather than inside it. Most businesses starting with Aircall want the human phone system first and would add Voice Agents later, not the other way around.

Against the alternatives

Against a general VoIP provider without the CRM-native design, Aircall’s advantage is specifically the depth of that CRM sync — the phone system knows who’s calling before you pick up, and logs the outcome without anyone typing it in. That integration is the reason to pick Aircall over a cheaper generic phone line, not the AI features alone.
