Where it breaks
The list prices shown are Close's own discounted current prices (each tier notes a higher 'reduced from' figure) — confirm on close.com/pricing whether that discount is a standing offer or a limited-time promotion before budgeting a multi-year cost.
Browser and desktop apps, with calling built directly into the product rather than requiring a separate phone system integration.

Close was built for teams that sell by phone, not email — the calling and SMS tools are native to the product rather than bolted on through an integration, which matters if your sales motion is mostly outbound calls rather than a slow-drip email sequence. The Chloe AI layer sits on top of that: it works leads between human-initiated conversations, surfacing suggested next actions and, at the Growth tier and above, running automated workflows that keep a lead moving without a rep manually triggering each step.
That automated lead-working is the real difference — Growth’s pitch is explicitly “let Chloe work leads while reps focus on closing,” meaning some of the pipeline maintenance happens without a human initiating each action, on a schedule or trigger rather than only on demand.
What separates the tiers in practice
Solo is priced for one person and caps out at 10,000 leads, which is genuinely limiting for anything beyond an individual operator. The real step up is Growth, where the automated workflows and power dialer show up — Essentials is mostly Solo’s toolset made collaborative, without the automation that makes Close distinctive.
Against the alternatives
Against Freshsales, the split is calling-first versus broader: Close assumes your sales process runs through the phone and builds everything around that assumption, while Freshsales is a more general CRM with phone as one channel among several. A team whose reps spend most of the day dialing gets more out of Close’s purpose-built calling tools; a team selling through varied channels — email, chat, inbound forms — may find Freshsales or Attio a better fit for how they actually work.
