Where it breaks
Enterprise is annual-billing-only, unlike the tiers below it which offer a monthly option at a meaningful premium — budget for a yearly commitment if that tier is the target. 'AI credits' are a separate metered allowance from storage minutes, and heavy use of the deeper AI features (not just transcription) can exhaust a lower tier's credit allowance before the month ends.
Works inside your existing video call tool rather than replacing it — Fireflies joins as a bot participant on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams calls, or records directly if you use its own dialer.

Fireflies solves a specific, small annoyance that compounds into a real problem: nobody takes good notes in their own meeting while they’re also trying to participate in it. Fireflies joins as a silent bot, records and transcribes automatically, and produces a searchable record afterward — so “what did we agree to in that call three weeks ago” has an actual answer instead of a half-remembered guess.
The push-to-CRM feature is where it earns a business subscription rather than a personal one: a sales call’s notes land against the right contact record automatically, without someone copying and pasting a summary after the fact.
What the credit system is actually metering
Transcription itself is unlimited on every paid tier — the AI credits govern the deeper features, like generating a structured summary beyond the basic version, or running certain integrations. A team that only needs “record it, transcribe it, search it later” will rarely feel the credit cap; one leaning heavily on AI-generated action items and CRM sync will hit it sooner.
Against Otter.ai
Both compete directly in the same category and reach similar reported user counts. The practical difference tends to come down to which video platforms and CRMs a team already uses — Fireflies has broader native CRM push integrations, Otter has historically had a slight edge on live, in-meeting transcript accuracy for some users. Trial both on a real meeting before committing, since transcription quality is the thing a spec sheet can’t tell you.
