LiveChat
A live chat widget with AI reply suggestions and conversation summaries, that routes a conversation to a human agent when it needs one.
What you'd use it for
Keeping a real person driving every website chat, with AI suggesting what to say rather than answering in their place.
- Put a live chat widget on your website and have agents reply from desktop, mobile or a browser app
- Get real-time reply phrasing suggestions from Copilot while typing to a visitor, included from the Starter plan
- Pull AI-drafted reply suggestions from your own knowledge base once you're on the Team plan or higher
- Get an automatic summary logged against each conversation once you're on the Business plan or higher
- See staffing predictions and a work scheduler on the Business and Enterprise plans
The verdict
LiveChat is a mature, human-first live chat tool built around a real agent replying to every conversation, with AI there to help that agent type faster rather than replace them. The AI itself is staged by tier — Starter gets only the real-time Copilot assistant, and you need the Team plan before reply suggestions appear or the Business plan before chat summaries do, so the entry price understates what the AI on the box actually includes. It suits a business that already has someone available to answer chats and wants them faster and more consistent, not one hoping AI will cover an unstaffed inbox.

When not to use it
Not for a business that wants a bot to answer chats without a person online — LiveChat has no autonomous AI agent built in, and ChatBot, the product that does that, is a separate subscription starting at $19 a month. Also not for a solo operator chasing AI reply suggestions or chat summaries on the cheapest plan, since those sit behind the Team and Business tiers, not Starter.
LiveChat has been running since before “AI-assisted support” was a category, and the product’s shape shows it — this is a mature, stable live chat tool that’s had AI layered onto an already-established workflow rather than an AI chatbot with live chat bolted on as an afterthought.
Text Intelligence, the AI feature under every tier, is staged rather than uniform: Starter includes only Copilot, which suggests reply phrasing to the human agent in real time; pulling reply suggestions from your own knowledge base needs the Team plan; and an automatic summary of the conversation isn’t generated until you’re on Business. It assists the person typing rather than replacing them, which is a deliberate design choice for a tool whose whole value proposition is a real person on the other end of the chat. That’s a different model from a chatbot-first tool like Chatbase, where the AI is meant to handle the conversation itself before a human ever sees it.
What the visitor-tracking limits actually mean
The tiers scale primarily by how many visitors LiveChat can track simultaneously on your site (100 on Starter, up to 1,000 on Business), not by message volume — a lower-traffic site with a small support team can stay on Starter far longer than the price alone would suggest, while a busy e-commerce site will outgrow it quickly regardless of team size.
Against the alternatives
Against Chatbase, the split is human-first versus AI-first: LiveChat keeps a person driving every conversation with AI assistance, while Chatbase is built to let a bot answer independently and only escalate to a human when it can’t. Pick based on whether your support model still assumes a person is always available to chat.
