What you'd use it for

Generating speech in a cloned voice, or checking whether an audio, video or image file you've been sent is itself AI-generated.

  • Clone a voice from 10 seconds of audio into a working Rapid Clone in under a minute
  • Train a higher-fidelity Professional Clone from 10-25+ minutes of audio in about 40 minutes
  • Screen an uploaded audio, image or video file for signs it was AI-generated
  • Flag a synthetic voice or face on a live video call in real time
  • Watermark generated audio for provenance tracking

The verdict

Resemble AI's real strength is the pairing: a business already generating synthetic voice content can screen for the same technique from the same vendor, which is a narrower case than either half sold alone. Voice cloning itself starts fast, ten seconds of audio to a working Rapid Clone in under a minute, but the Voice Cloning API sits behind the Business plan at $800 to $1,000 a month rather than the free Flex credits the site leads with, so it only pencils out once you're running voice generation at real volume. Flex's pay-as-you-go credits make deepfake detection alone a genuinely low-commitment thing to try. For voice generation alone, ElevenLabs is the cheaper and more focused starting point.

What it costs

Tier Price For Includes
Flex $0/month, pay-as-you-go credits Testing deepfake detection before committing to a plan. Does not cover voice cloning at any usage level. Deepfake detection for audio/image/video, identity enrolment, real-time meeting detection, watermarking, API access, 1 seat.
Team $350/month, billed monthly ($280/month billed annually) A small team using deepfake detection regularly. Still does not include the Voice Cloning API — that needs Business or higher. Everything in Flex, lower usage rates, Meetings Intelligence, large and batch file uploads, 5 seats.
Business $1,000/month, billed monthly ($800/month billed annually) An organisation scaling usage with security requirements. Everything in Team, org-wide calendar integration, meeting security notifications, Single Sign-On, 20 seats.
Enterprise Custom pricing, arranged with sales An organisation needing on-prem deployment or custom model training. Volume pricing, enterprise SLAs, custom model training, on-prem deployment, dedicated support.

What you need to start

  • A Resemble account with an API key from the Account settings page
  • A Business plan or higher for the Voice Cloning API, not included on the free Flex tier
  • At least 10 seconds of clean audio of the voice you want to clone

Account and API key take minutes, and a Rapid Clone is working inside a minute of that, but the Voice Cloning API itself needs a Business-plan subscription, so a production integration via the REST API or SDK is closer to a day's work.

Your first run The first real result is a Rapid Clone: feed it 10 seconds of your own recorded audio and you have a working synthetic voice in under a minute, ready to generate new speech from text.

Where it breaks

The pricingTiers above (Flex/Team/Business/Enterprise) come straight off resemble.ai/pricing, and that page prices the detection product line only — Resemble Detect, Intelligence, Meetings, Identity, Watermarker and Agent Detection. Voice cloning does not appear anywhere in its tier comparison table. The Voice Cloning API's own gate, Business plan or higher, is stated only in the FAQ on the separate voice-creation product page (resemble.ai/products/voice-creation), not on the pricing page itself. Read the table above as detection pricing; treat the Business-plan requirement for voice cloning as a separate fact layered on top, not a line item you can see broken out by tier.

API and web platform. The same company sells both the generation side (voice cloning) and the detection side (deepfake screening) — worth noting if you only need one.

When not to use it

Anyone who wants a cheap, casual way to clone a voice - the Voice Cloning API sits behind the Business plan, not the free Flex credits, so occasional personal use is likely cheaper through a dedicated voice tool. Cloning someone else's voice also carries consent and disclosure obligations that vary by jurisdiction, several of which now require telling a listener a voice is synthetic or getting the speaker's permission first, so this isn't for anyone planning to clone a voice without that person's agreement or without checking what their local law demands.

Resemble AI sells two things that sound unrelated until you notice they’re the same underlying technology pointed in opposite directions: clone a voice from a short sample to generate new speech, and detect whether a piece of audio, image or video was generated the same way. Building both under one roof gives them an unusually direct view of what current deepfakes actually sound and look like.

The real-time meeting detection is the more unusual feature here — flagging when a voice on a live call might be synthetic, aimed squarely at the fraud risk that’s grown alongside cheap voice cloning itself.

Reading the price jump

Flex to Team is a large jump — free to $280–350/month — because Team is where the platform stops being pay-as-you-go and starts being a real operational tool: batch uploads, lower per-use rates, and Meetings Intelligence. That jump only applies to deepfake detection, though. Voice cloning sits behind a separate, higher gate: the Voice Cloning API needs a Business plan or above regardless of how little you use it, so Flex’s credits never get you there no matter how occasional your usage.

Where this fits

For voice generation alone, ElevenLabs is the more focused, cheaper starting point if detection isn’t a need. Resemble’s differentiator is specifically the pairing — a business that both produces synthetic voice content and needs to screen for it (contact centres, media companies) gets more value from having both under one vendor than most others will.
