WellSaid Labs
A voiceover studio built on licensed, consented voice actors, so the audio you publish for ads or training is cleared for commercial use.
What you'd use it for
Producing ad or training voiceover you can publish commercially without a voice-cloning consent problem hanging over it.
- Turn a written script into studio-quality voiceover using one of 280-plus licensed, consented voice actors
- Adjust pacing, emphasis and pronunciation line by line with the AI Director tool before exporting
- Export broadcast-ready audio up to 48kHz, or 96kHz on the Enterprise plan
- Hand exported audio straight into Adobe Express or Premiere Pro on paid plans
- Download caption files alongside the audio for video production
The verdict
WellSaid is the safer choice for a voiceover that lands in a public ad or training video, because every voice comes from a real actor who was paid and gave written consent — a cleaner paper trail than a tool that clones any voice from a ten-second sample. It costs you flexibility in return; there is no instant cloning and no describe-and-generate shortcut, and the free trial's three minutes a month is only enough for a taste test. It suits marketing and L&D teams who need to ship voiceover under a contract they can point to, rather than solo creators who just want to hear an idea out loud.

What you need to start
- An email address or Google account to start the free trial, no credit card needed
- A script to convert; no audio sample or voice recording of your own required
- A paid Starter plan or above for full commercial rights on the audio you export
A few minutes to a working free account and a first rendered clip; a paid plan is needed before the audio carries full commercial rights.
Your first run Sign up free with an email or Google account, paste a script into Studio, pick one of the 280-plus voices, and render a first clip in a few minutes — the trial caps you at three minutes of downloadable audio a month.
Where it breaks
The vendor's original wellsaidlabs.com domain now redirects to wellsaid.io — bookmark the new address.
Browser-based studio; no desktop app. Generated audio downloads as a file for use in whatever video or ad tool you're already working in.
First entry in this reference. There is no previous check to compare it against.
When not to use it
Not for anyone who needs to clone their own voice or a specific real person's voice, since WellSaid only offers its fixed roster of consenting actors. Also a poor fit for casual, non-commercial projects, where the trial's three-minutes-a-month cap and the cost of full commercial rights aren't worth it.
Most AI voice tools will clone a voice from a few seconds of audio, which is exactly the property that makes them unsafe to use commercially without a very clear licence. WellSaid takes the opposite approach: every voice in the library belongs to a real actor who was paid to record it and consented to it being used for synthetic speech, which is the reason enterprise legal and marketing teams keep coming back to it over cheaper alternatives.
In practice this is a studio, not a chatbot. You type or paste a script, pick a voice, adjust pace and emphasis line by line, and export the audio — there’s no one-shot “describe what you want” prompt the way there is with Suno for music. The trade-off for that control is that WellSaid doesn’t do the flashiest demo; it does the audio you can actually ship in a client-facing ad.
Pricing scales with how many minutes of finished audio you download, not how much you generate while experimenting — the free trial gives you a small taste, Starter and Pro cover most solo creators and small teams, and Business adds seats and Premiere Pro integration for people cutting video around the voiceover. Enterprise is where the sample rate goes up again and the seat cap disappears.
Compared with ElevenLabs, which offers instant voice cloning and a much larger self-serve voice library, WellSaid trades flexibility for a narrower, contractually cleaner set of voices — the right call when the audio is going into a paid ad campaign or an internal training video rather than a personal project.
