- Write and rewrite page copy, calls to action and blog post drafts from the editor toolbar

- Get AI-suggested SEO titles, descriptions and alt text for existing pages
The verdict
Squarespace is a template-quality website builder with AI bolted onto the editor, not an AI-native tool -- you buy it for the design and hosting, and the AI removes the blank-page problem rather than being the reason to choose it. The AI is also metered: Basic gets ten AI credits total, not monthly, so anyone using it seriously will land on Core or Advanced. It suits a service business or portfolio that wants a site that looks designed without hiring a designer, and stores already selling online recover the higher tiers' cost through the transaction-fee drop. Anyone shopping specifically for AI generation quality is better served by a purpose-built AI site builder.

What you need to start
- A Squarespace account (no credit card needed for the 14-day trial)
- A paid plan selected before the site can go public, even after the trial
- A domain, either bought through Squarespace or connected from elsewhere via DNS
A generated starter site in a few minutes via Blueprint AI; a real few-page small-business site typically takes about a week of part-time work before publishing, since a paid plan must be chosen before it can go live.
Your first run Answer a handful of questions about your business and pick a brand personality, and Blueprint AI produces a starter site -- layout, colours, draft copy and images -- in a few minutes; publishing it publicly still requires choosing and paying for a plan first.
Where it breaks
This machine resolves to Malaysia, and Squarespace geo-served Ringgit pricing on every attempt, including a curl request carrying a forced US Accept-Language header. The figures above are what the vendor actually showed, not a conversion — check squarespace.com/pricing from a US connection for the USD figure.
Entirely browser-based, with a companion mobile app for basic edits and store management. All plans include a 14-day free trial.

When not to use it
Not for anyone choosing a tool primarily on AI capability -- the writing and image generation are serviceable, not a differentiator, and Basic's ten one-time AI credits run out fast. Also a poor fit for anyone who needs the site public today without first picking and paying for a plan, since publishing stays gated behind a paid tier even during the trial.
Squarespace’s pitch has always been the template quality — a site built on it looks designed, not assembled, which is the main reason it holds onto service businesses and portfolios even as cheaper builders undercut it on price. The AI layer added recently drafts page copy, blog posts and product descriptions from a short prompt, aimed at the part of building a site that has nothing to do with design and everything to do with staring at a blank text box.
The three tiers are mostly a transaction-fee ladder dressed up as a feature ladder. Basic takes 2% of every sale; Core drops that to zero and adds unlimited team seats; Advanced adds unlimited video hosting and the lowest fees on digital products specifically. For a business not selling anything through the site, the practical difference between tiers is thinner — mostly contributor count and analytics depth.
A pricing caveat worth flagging
Every figure above came back in Malaysian Ringgit despite a forced US-locale header on the request. Squarespace’s geo-pricing is IP-based rather than header-based, and this machine’s network location won the argument. Treat the relative gap between tiers as informative — Core roughly 40% more than Basic, Advanced roughly 65% more than Core — while checking the actual dollar figure from a US connection before committing.
Where it fits
Against Adobe Express, the comparison only goes so far — Express makes graphics, Squarespace makes and hosts the site those graphics end up on.
