Adobe Express
Quick social and print design in the browser, with Firefly image generation and your brand kit built in.
What you'd use it for
Turning a marketing brief into a finished social post, flyer or short video using a template, without opening Photoshop.
- Resize one design automatically across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other social formats
- Generate images, logos and text effects from a text prompt using Firefly, without leaving the editor
- Remove a photo background or convert file formats (JPG, PNG, SVG) in a couple of clicks
- Edit, trim, caption and animate short video clips for reels and stories
- Keep a shared brand kit (logo, fonts, colours) so a team's output stays consistent
The verdict
Adobe Express is the fast, template-first way to get a social post, flyer or short video out the door without opening Photoshop — the free tier's template and stock library is generous enough that most casual users never need to pay. Where it costs you is at the edges — the moment you want serious AI image or video generation, you're pushed into Firefly Pro, which is really Adobe Firefly's own paid tier sold through the Express pricing page rather than a lighter sibling to it. It suits someone who needs a finished-looking marketing asset on a deadline and is happy adapting a template; it does not suit someone who wants to design from a blank canvas or needs professional-grade generative output without effectively buying a second Adobe product.

Where it breaks
adobe.com/express/pricing has previously geo-served Indian Rupee pricing from this location regardless of locale headers; the figures above are from a fetch of the same page that returned USD.
Browser-based, with iOS and Android apps. Free tiers exist for K-12 educators; higher education pricing requires contacting sales.

When not to use it
Not for anyone who wants to design from a blank canvas rather than adapt a template, or whose real need is AI image or video generation at volume — that need is better served by comparing Firefly Pro against Firefly's own standalone plans first, since it is the same product sold twice.
Adobe Express is Adobe’s answer to Canva: a template-first design tool aimed at someone who needs a social post or a flyer finished in minutes, not a Photoshop file built from a blank canvas. The free tier’s library — a hundred thousand templates, a million stock assets — is generous enough that most casual users never see a reason to pay.
What paying actually buys is generative headroom. Premium adds 250 monthly AI-generation credits and a much deeper template and font library; Firefly Pro, sold on the same pricing page, jumps to 4,000 credits and adds video generation and full Photoshop access, which is where Express starts overlapping with Adobe Firefly itself rather than staying a lighter sibling to it.
The tier that is really two products
Firefly Pro is not an Express feature so much as Firefly’s own paid tier, sold through the Express pricing page. If the actual goal is AI image and video generation rather than templated design, it is worth comparing this tier directly against Firefly’s standalone plans before assuming Express is the cheaper route to the same capability.
A pricing caveat worth flagging
Adobe’s geo-pricing has, on other checks, served this page in Indian Rupees despite a US-locale header on the request, so it’s worth re-checking your own invoice currency before committing. The USD figures above are Adobe’s own listed prices for this page.
