Freepik
A stock-image and template library bundled with AI image, video and audio generation, so a small marketing team can build or find what it needs on one subscription.
What you'd use it for
Finding a stock photo, vector or template fast, and generating new AI images, video or audio in the same subscription when nothing in the library fits.
- Search and download from a library of 250 million-plus stock photos, vectors, PSDs and templates
- Generate images, video clips and audio or music from a text prompt using multiple AI models in one place
- Edit images with background removal, upscaling and style transfer without leaving the library
- Turn a generated or stock image into a short video
- Use Freepik's AI tools inside Claude or ChatGPT through its MCP integration
The verdict
Freepik earns its keep by bundling a stock library, AI generation and light editing into one subscription rather than three. It suits a team that already reaches for stock assets and wants AI generation folded into the same workflow, not a studio chasing the sharpest possible image or video output — dedicated generators still edge it there. The annual credit carry-over rewards teams with uneven, bursty output; a team that only occasionally needs an AI image is likely to find the paid tiers more than it uses.

What you need to start
- A free account (email or Google/Apple sign-in)
- A credit or debit card, or PayPal, only if subscribing to a paid tier
A few minutes to sign up and generate a first image for free; working out which AI model and credit tier fits a team's volume takes longer.
Your first run Sign up free with an email or Google/Apple account (no card needed), pick Image Generator, write a prompt and choose a style, and a set of AI images is ready to download or turn into a video within a couple of minutes — free accounts get a limited choice of styles and generations.
Where it breaks
This site geo-prices by visitor location, and every fetch attempted from this check — including attempts with a US-forcing header and Google-crawler user agent — returned Malaysian ringgit (MYR) rather than USD. The prices above are recorded verbatim in MYR rather than guessed or converted; a US-based reader should expect a different number in USD on the live page and should check it directly before budgeting.
Browser app, desktop app, mobile app, plus an API and MCP integration for Claude/ChatGPT. Freepik's parent company rebranded its AI tools under the name Magnific during 2026, though the freepik.com domain and brand still lead for most users.

When not to use it
Not for a solo creator or agency chasing top image or video fidelity — dedicated generators like Midjourney or Leonardo AI produce sharper results at the high end. Also not worth it for someone who only needs a handful of stock downloads a year; the free tier's 10-per-day limit and Premium's price make sense only once AI generation is part of the regular workflow.
Freepik started as a stock library — vectors, photos, PSDs, the kind of asset a small team used to pay a designer to source — and has since folded AI generation into the same subscription, under a newer brand name, Magnific, that the marketing site now leads with. What a subscriber actually gets is both halves at once: search a library of 250 million-plus existing assets, or generate something new when nothing in it fits.
The credit system is the part worth understanding before comparing tiers by price alone. Credits are spent per AI tool used, not per download — stock downloads are unlimited on paid plans regardless of tier — and unused credits on an annual plan carry forward for the full year rather than resetting monthly, which changes how a team should budget generation-heavy months against quiet ones.
Against Canva, the split is emphasis: Canva leads with layout and design tools with AI generation as a feature inside them, Freepik leads with the asset library and generation as the product itself, with lighter design tools on top. Against Midjourney or Leonardo AI, Freepik trades some raw image quality for having a stock library and editing tools in the same subscription, so a team is not paying for a generator and a library separately.
One honest caveat on this entry: the prices above are in Malaysian ringgit because that is what every fetch attempt returned from this location — Freepik geo-prices by visitor country, and a reader elsewhere should check the live page for their own region’s number.
